Hello, everyone! I hope your Holidays were as awesome as mine, seriously. My Christmas loot blew me away this year.

LOOT! )

Yeah, it's a little late for a Christmas loot post, but on the other hand, I don't care. I don't think I've ever felt so spoiled or loved on Christmas. Growing up we've always been a little poor. Christmas has always been good, yet modest. But it seems like Dad really went all out this year. I was extremely touched after everything we've been through as a family this year. Dad getting laid off was such a blow, seeing as mom's MS prevents her from working. I had a job at the time, and managed to give what little help I could toward groceries and other bills. Then Mom and Dad's ugly split-up, and hesitant reunion... I felt like this year I could be there for my Father in a way I've never been before, and we've grown much closer for it. I know these gifts might not seem like much to some families, but I look at them and see us rising from the ashes this year, and I see Dad's gratitude for everything I tried to do.

I've been out of a job for a while, so Mom went out and cleaned this woman's house with her sister so I could have some extra money to buy people presents with. I was utterly blown away when she gave it to me, and I combined it with my ridiculous change hoard and spent every cent of it on presents. I was determined to not spend any of it on myself since she set such an example of selflessness. I got Craig a guitar hero controller for his xbox, and so determined was I to throw him off the scent that I wrapped him a decoy present of a box full of junk, and hid the real one. The decoy present was nothing but a towel, an old clothes iron, a hammer, and a shoe. Oh it was hard to keep a straight face as he shook it in puzzlement all up til Christmas. x)

So tonight it actually snowed a little! The whole house crowded around the windows in amazement. Here in the South, and especially in this valley, snow is exceptionally rare. It was just a dusting, really, but I went and stood out on the balcony in my bare feet and Craig scraped up as much as he could to throw at me. I think we may go up to the mountains soon to see it in bunches. <3

Okay so I promised pictures of random junk and I'm here to deliver, goddamnit! I love all of you just enough to lift myself out of my stupor and update.

That, my friends, is what we non-cooking types call breakfast.

I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season. I want to do that whole Christmas card thing I've seen around but let's be honest, people. By the time I got around to sending out cards it'd be Halloween again. How about a festive icon instead?

Ferret parenthood is going to put me in an early grave.

For those of you who don't already know, I own two young ferrets. The first is a slender white and silver girl named Snowdrop(after the flower, not the manga)and the second is a fat brown and creme-colored girl named Bean(originally named Mitsy but I insisted she looked like an uncooked pinto bean and the name stuck).

Bean is a sweetheart. She is very shy and hardly ever makes a noise or fusses when it's bedtime. She enjoys eating, sleeping, snacking, pigging out, and also eating. She is very fluffy and fat fat fat fat fat. Sometimes when I'm giving her a bath I mistake her for a small boat.

Pictures! )

Snowdrop is a completely different story. To put it mildly, she is hell on four legs. She loves to chase and wrestle and makes lots and lots of noise. Her hobbies include somehow getting up on the kitchen counter, excaping her cage at night when everyone's in bed, and jumping on me when I'm giving her a bath so that water gets all over me and the bathroom floor. But most of all, she adores the basment.

Ohhh, the basement. For her is a place full of wonderful boxes full of stuff to climb in and wide spaces to roam. To me it is a wasteland of horrors with death lurking in every corner just waiting to jump out at an unsuspecting young ferret. As if she takes pleasure out of giving me a hernia, she oftens darts past my feet when I go down to get the laundry, resulting in a chase of epic proportions. Today was no different.

She thinks of it like a game, I can tell. Her tails poofs out like a huge bottlebrush and she makes those chirpy little ferret noises and darts under the water heater where I can't get her. Then she'll jump out at me and I'll make a grab for her but she'll turn into soap in my hands and slip effortlessly out of my grasp and run circles around me before hiding behind the spare dresser. Meanwhile, I have a heart attack about the horrible poisons that are undoubtedly killing her more with every second.

Ahh, yes. An early grave indeed.

I just made a Flickr account for kicks. Decided to start it off by posting the pictures from AWA, an anime convention I go to every year. Mostly pictures of cosplayers, but there are a couple of me and the people I regularly hang with. It's worth a look, if you're bored. x)

Here.

Presenting, for your entertainment, Bonnie.

Isn't she lovely?

Thank you. Thank you very much.
